According to the American Cancer Society, over 200,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women this year; sadly, about 40,000 women will die of breast cancer in 2014. Once again, our friends from Norton Healthcare returned to Hotel Louisville with their mobile mammogram screening unit. Norton Healthcare’s Jenita Lyons, who also teaches at Bellermine University, was instrumental in organizing the event. Most doctors believe that early detection tests for breast cancer could save several thousands of lives each year, but more lives would be spared if even more women and their health care providers took advantage of these vital tests. The ladies of Wayside Christian Mission are grateful to Jenita Lyons and Norton Healthcare for sponsoring this life-saving event.
