                                               Norton Healthcare Cancer Screenings

For the third successive year, Norton Healthcare set up cancer screenings at Wayside Christian Mission’s Hotel Louisville for the benefit of the women in our care.

As always, we are grateful, for undetected and untreated breast cancer is a very real threat.  According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. About 1 in 8, that is, 12% of women in our nation will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.  The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2015 are:

     ·       About 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women

     ·       About 60,290 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form             of breast cancer)

     ·       About 40,290 women will die from breast cancer

The health, safety, and well-being of the women in our program are of paramount concern; for this reason, we are delighted that our friends from Norton Healthcare have, once again, blessed us with their mobile cancer screen unit and a team caring, compassionate healthcare professionals.

"I recently stayed at Hotel Louisville and was very impressed. The first thing I noticed was ample, convenient parking. Then, upon entering the hotel, I was greeted by a friendly, helpful staff. It was refreshing to see such efficient, pleasant workers. My room was very clean and restful. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones that I have ever slept on in a hotel. The food was delicious. As a matter of fact, it was so good that I ate all my meals there during my 5-day stay in Louisville. The prices were very reasonable—a real bargain! I have already recommended Hotel Louisville to several of my friends, and I will definitely stay there again when my travels take me back there. " Lisa B Tulsa OK
