Donation Helps Mission’s Job Seekers
In our technologically-dominated world, even applying for an entry level job requires a measure of computer literacy. Many of our homeless clients, however, lack basic computer skills and this places them at a disadvantage when seeking employment. Thankfully, Dr. Priscilla Hancock, Vice President of Information Technology, Chief Information Officer and the University of Louisville IT Department recently donated ten refurbished computers that will be available for use by our resident clients. With these computers, student volunteers and staff members can help our clients understand the necessary basic computer skills needed for finding employment. Additionally, we have a group of resident clients who are pursuing college degrees; the available computers will assist these students in their studies. Besides Dr. Hancock’s department, we wish to thank the Speed School for donated firewall software and Dr. Edna Ross, who coordinated the installation efforts.
